How did the theories around "Race" come into existence? What were the theological, political and scientific source texts that gave rise to "Race Theory"? How did this "Race Theory" guide European reception of Hindu texts? What impact did European thought through the 19th and 20th century in turn have on modern Hindu thinkers?
This Webinar will explore how the concept of "Race" was originated, universalized and how deeply it has shaped modern humanities. It will introduce a course with the same title being offered in the Winter Quarter 2021.
